I would say yes. Emulating the 3DS is a bit wonky experience depending on many factors and where you emulate it, mainly because of screen input methods, and to some extend the 3D effect and microphone. I would only recommend to buy a 3DS if you plan on hack to jailbreak it. Because you cannot buy new games from the anymore, and you won’t lose the ability to play carts anyway. But you gain the ability to play ROMs on it as if it was a cartridge.
