Yes, but poliitcally it’s convenient to argue that gender is oppressive, or essential or something.

What’s ironic to me is the ‘anti gender’ people are the one who are the most obsessed with it and go around policing every else’s gender identity and their language use about it.

Like, if you want to be liberated from gender, why don’t you liberate yourself first?
