Comment on My mother-in-law's way of sealing plastic bags. Yes that's been burnt by the stove top
bedwyr@piefed.ca 3 days agoZiplocks are not all that secure. I had like a huge amount of aspen oyster mushrooms in ziplocks, here in the upper midwest, and they molded, even though they were dry. Same with other stuff. The humidity just seeps in somehow.
There has to be something to add to soak up moisture like the corporos do with that silica bullshit.

Silica bullshit? That stuff is about as save as sand, which it is essentially made of, just with a ton of pores added. And yes, plastic let’s water through, tho very very slow compared to other things we are used to. Not sure if that had anything to do with the mold problem you had, even a tiny hole (or the zip lock itself, closed) are FAR more leaky.

Many were double bagged in sealed ziplocks.
Idk about the silica, it’s more that it’s just not something that’s available than health concerns, I looked it up a long time ago and the internet said it was safe.
I was just thinking there could be other substances that are available to a person that could work, like straw or something even, idk.
