Comment on Anon isn't worried about population decline
Eq0@literature.cafe 4 days agoJapan has not been doing all right. Their economy has long stagnated, working conditions have been maintained rough with very long working hours and recently they have pivoted on their isolationism bordering on racism to accept workers for outside Japan.
It’s not horrible, but it’s not all right either

A falling population with a stagnant economy sounds bad but that’s a rising standard of living.
Long hours are not captured in GDP but Japan had that problem long before the population pyramid inverted.

Oh no, not just stagnant GDP. Stagnant/decreasing GDP per capita. The absolute GDP is down even more.
