So the closest possible thing I can think of that could be interpreted as “irratic driving makes you a better driver” is possibly attempting high pressure maneuvers before you need to.

My dad yanked the wheel on a back road so I could practice gaining control on ice.

But that should be done in a controlled environment not constantly. You’re not only literally creating hazards for yourself to practice on, you’re forcing everyone around you to practice as well, but they think this is just a regular drive, not a skill course.

The safest thing you can do behind the wheel is to BE PREDICTABLE. As long as you do what everybody around you thinks you’re going to do, everyone can stay a safe distance away from each other.

You’ve gotten your practice in. Now drive like an adult.
