iamtanmay@wolfballs.com 2 years agoSeveral years ago I went to a workshop by a Azure consultant (freelancer, not MS affiliated), who had been consulting on MS products like Office for 20 years.
He told me when he reports bugs to Azure devs, he has to explain to them, how their software works. They are so siloed, that even cloud teams are clueless about their cloud products.
The older a company is, the more these kind of systemic problems become. Similar to what you were talking about corruption, earlier.

Chase bank devs are fucking retarded. It's what happens when 90% of your developers got their jobs from friends instead of qualifications. I won't go into details of how I know they are 100% retards but trust they are retarded.

JP Morgan Chase ?
I work at the German stock exchange. Interviewing candidates for cloud. 10 last two months. Only one could explain a tech more complex than how to answer a phone. Caught some googling during the interview. They couldn't describe a single problem they solved at their previous job. Somehow their CVs all show they work for major banks like Citi, Deutsche Bank, HSBC.......
Position open since early 2020, so gonna be two years soon.

I work at a fang company. I interview candidates all the time. I caught a girl cheating on a simple depth first search Btree problem I gave her. She turned her camera off and I heard whispering. I told the hire ups and they told me to be quite because she was a recommendation. They want you to believe if you study hard you have a chance. 9/10 times that's a lie. Big tech is mostly friend hires.

Ooof. They should have said that to you before the interview.
10/10 working for any mid sized or larger employer is going to be like a Dilbert comic strip.
The study hard and succeed really only works when you start your own business.
