Yeah it was shortly after that that I came here. I kept using both lemmy and reddit for a while but as the quality kept declining on reddit and the moderation (by admins) kept getting more intrusive, I had to bail. At the end I just decided to start openly calling for violence against fascists whenever the subject came up and waited to get banned, cause why not when I’m leaving anyways?
Comment on Reddit is putting more limits on Old.Reddit.com
tangentism@beehaw.org 2 weeks agoIt did because there was a noticeable quality bump after third party apps were cut off so while it didn’t cause most users to leave, it made a substantiative jump further down the enshittification path that will eventually alienate everyone.

Absolutely. The quality drop on discussions was wild. I used to spend hours a week discussing on reddit. Now despite still using it to keep up to date on various topics, I rarely comment.
The post quality dropped quite a bit as well at that time. But that has always been a steady “eternal September” type of decline so it’s harder to isolate the cause.
Reddit will become less and less useful to the AI giants for training if it doesn’t contain new and ongoing deep communication like it once did.
