I know right? I have this apartment I pay for with the money I have but my neighbor sleeping in a tent says she doesn’t have money for a place to live??? Doesn’t make any sense, she should stop complaining /sarcasm in case that wasn’t obvious

What basic needs are you struggling to meet? I have a lot of complaints about the current system, but my basic needs are not one of them.

“I’m fine, so everyone else must be”. Most privileged take in human history.

Well I suppose it depends where they live. But I hear similar from people here in the UK too.
If I just wanted basic needs and nothing more I wouldn’t even bother working, just live off benefits. The reason I have a job is because I want a bit more than just basic survival. Only surviving is pretty bleak.
For many, work doesn’t pay as much as they deserve. It pays enough to survive but they deserve more than survival.

On my bike to work I pass a few homeless encampments and they aren’t even the biggest ones in my city. Homeless people lack basic nutrition, adequate medical care, safety, housing, etc. They are by definition not meeting basic needs.

Might be a US problem, here no one is completely homeless except by choice. The support isn’t great but it will keep you alive if you want to.
