I'm not going to do that, because I hate it when comments get edited in such a way that the whole context changes. However, to clarify: to your reply "I didn't realize people shut off their computers after having AI do something they might not have otherwise done anyway" I answered that yes, people actually do that. If they run a local model, the model also shuts down. If they don't run a local model, they can still shut down their computer and the next user can use ChatGPT or whatever online model they use.

I think we just don't understand each other here. At least, I'm lost at what belief I have to back up. But I'll wind back to the first reply I made, and remove any comparison of local models vs cloud, since I don't know how many people use the cloud models, and I don't know how many people use local models. So, here it goes:
Your reply is about people turning off their computers after using AI. Which they can and will do. Now, again, forget about the local models or online models. It's just people using AI and then turning off their computers, and you stated you didn't know people do this. I hereby state that people actually do that.
So, before someone goes back to why I dragged local and cloud models into this: (and trying to answer to what I think was implied in your original comment) I wrote about local models vs cloud computing, and that cloud computing doesn't stop being useful after one user is done with it. This may also be read as an indirect reply to the person you replied to, who stated people over estimate the energy usage of using AI vs doing it the other way.
