Why do PNG images with alpha transparencies exists?

Because when put on a background gif transparencies look dithered since gif transparencies are either on or off. There are no 50% or any other partial opacities.

If you are using gifs for like moving pixel art, that’s great but if a designer wants a realistic still images with moving clouds in the background, PNG would be a way better option.
