How did you reach the conclusion that they’re “heavily correlated”? From the studies you posted, I’m seeing effect sizes of r ≈ 0.2, which is usually considered a weak correlation. A change in one variable explains only about 4% of variance in the other.
An effect of this magnitude is, I suspect, consistent with left wing beliefs/ideology being transmitted at universities, whose population has already passed a selection filter on intelligence.
i mean i went to a conservative college for undergrad. the idiots (not all of the students, just there were some real idiots. you’ve met me) at that college (compared to the peers i met at the other universities i attended) basically put the idea in my head “if that’s this side, i want nothing to do with it. at least the idiots on the other side aren’t as idiotic or hateful”
i didn’t ever run into the idiots at the other universities (which i guess means i must’ve been it), so it was fun.

As in between peers, or do you genuinely think that universities teach socialism as an economic model that should be followed or something?

I just mean that Pr(left wing|went to uni) > Pr(left wing|didn’t). No assumptions about the mechanism, just observing the regularity.
