I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at but it sounds like you’re referring to the fact that, cladistically, birds are dinosaurs. But there were non-bird dinosaurs, and what this all means for the clades is just that all birds are reptiles.

Of course normally we are not speaking cladistically. In that context, birds are not dinosaurs, but dinosaurs are still reptiles, and reptiles excludes birds.
