Not gonna lie, the numbers people sometimes pull up for similar arguments are usually fudged in some way, but not a single number they used sounds wrong.

15 an hour isn’t unheard of, minimum for my state isn’t even close to that, some of my coworkers make that. Rent for my place is much more. I spend way more on food, bills, utilities, etc. I’m not in a very high-income or high-cost place, it’s the outskirts of a small industrial city, and I’d say those numbers are skewed to cost less than what they actually wind up costing me.
