This is such a Japanese thing to do. I’m not even surprised. I understand the need to protect your employees, especially when Japan has a history of whackos damaging businesses that sometimes result in deaths, but this is going a bit far IMO. I think they could comply with Japan’s new law about worker protection without needing to go this route.

In Japan, laws have pretty much always been dictated by big businesses, just look at their defamation laws. Even if what you say is true, if it harms the company in any day, you will still be arrested and are basically guaranteed to lose a case in Japan for that.

I am interested to see if they try to implement this outside Japan. I mean, Japanese businesses almost always try to apply Japanese law outside Japan (most famously, Nintendo), but still interesting to see if it happens.
