My company got purchased and then the purchasing company got purchased by a huge west coast tech giant. Everybody from the original company got reassigned to new teams and we all ended up with new bosses who had no idea who we were or why we were even there. I had a very enjoyable six months “working” from home doing absolutely nothing before I was laid off. I even got a severance package about equivalent to a year’s salary for the first (and presumably last) time in my career.
