There is a German joke with a similar punchline:
There’s a grandma sitting behind a bus driver and offering him some nuts every know and then. After a while the driver wants to know if she doesn’t want any herself. And then she explains: “you know: I love these bonbons so much, but I can’t chew the nuts anymore. So I gave them to you”
