boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 days ago123k seems to have been the median for a new home in the country when I googled it, average was higher. A bit of googling says that the average (not median this time) amount for rent in the US in 1990 was 447.
Think they just googled average numbers for 1990.

I guess they were being a big disingenuous with the house price then. Normally when house price is listed, that is purchasing a home, not building one. Building will always be more expensive, so it makes sense that building a house back then might be six figures, but you could easily find a house for sale under $70-80K in 1990.
