How is asking an LLM and checking it against public values for nutrition less work than just using the public values in the first place?

Because to do it manually you need to find the sources for each of those values, then put it all in a table, then do the complete math.
Checking involves clicking the source link(s), then doing a quick mental calculation to see if it’s approximately correct.

Ah, gotcha. I thought you meant you looked up “whole wheat bread nutrition” and used those results to verify. Not that it would’ve made any more sense to offer that value as an answer since there’s so much variation in what can be considered whole wheat bread.

If you care about calories, it’s much more energy efficient overall to do it yourself and will burn more calories from your body to use your brain.
