I routinely watch manufacturing plants other high dollar/high experience workers just to save on labor. Guaranteed to cost them in overtime, downtime, oee/etc and possibly even recalls, warning letters etc.

They know the cost and they don’t give a fuck. Pile it onto the consumer with higher prices.
