I once had a roommate who preferred to keep the peanut butter in the fridge for some reason. I didn’t really get it, but it was easy to accommodate so I did. Turns out they were just doing the same thing for me because they assumed that it was my preference. I have no idea which one of us originally stuck the peanut butter in the fridge.

“Natural” peanut butter is better refrigerated because then it won’t separate again. You stir it once when you open the jar, then store it in the refrigerator, and never have to stir that jar again. And it’s not difficult to spread while cold like butter. On the other hand, if you just keep it in the pantry or whatever like normal peanut butter, you’ll have to stir it every single time you go to use it.
