Comment on ASML stands for Advanced Semiconductor Materials and Laser, and was an American company, so when did it become a French company?

ASML was never an American company. It started as a joint venture between the Dutch Phillips and the equally Dutch ASM, and when it became an independent company it remained in the Netherlands. Did you know non American companies are also allowed to have English names?
