They did, but for regular base operations I believe they continued to use the electric grid. Like the lighting, computers, HVAC, elevators, communications, workshops, medical equipment, etc..

I don't think so, I mean, it cost $2bn just to turn the lights on at that place! And that was 1995 2 billion, not hyperinflated 2026 2 billion!
