Ok, ok, I would fiercely protest…but the country is massive.
Plus I can’t be expected to travel thousands of miles to protest.

Plus local protests are very difficult to organise, or find (in this age of instant communication).

Plus, midterms. Just you wait until the midterms happen, then we’ll have so much control. Oh yeah, midterms will straighten all this out!!!

(The above excuses are what have been said to me when I asked the same question over the last few months. I’ve now come to the conclusion that americans are either trapped or evil/complacent/stupid)
