Iconoclast@feddit.uk 1 week agoMost advertising is about building brand recognition. It doesn’t matter whether you buy their product or not - the fact that you can name the company whose product you’re not buying means the ad worked.

Unless I go on to buy it, no it didn’t. And there have absolutely been times I’ve explicitly avoided a company because of their advertising. As I said, I’m a net negative to those ads.
