I don’t know if this is a hot take or not but alcohol free beer is pointless. I don’t believe anybody actually drinks beer for the taste because it objectively doesn’t taste all that great, people like beer because of the association it has with having a good time with your friends, nobody drinks it as a refreshing beverage.
The fact that beer doesn’t actually taste all that good is why people invented cocktails.

Plenty of people, like me, drink beer for the taste. I’m not all that fond of sweet drinks, so I actually tend to dislike cocktails or mixed drinks.
I actually like the taste of beer, especially the bitterness and a bit of fruity taste without being sweet.
And i am very glad that here in Germany there is a lot of analcoholic beer available, because very often i want the taste without the drug.
Still i agree with you that the memory of good times with beer makes it even better. I know a lot of people that don’t like the taste so much. So probably i am the outlier here.

I don’t drink sparkling water but I like ma beer. It’s light and refreshing and nice to have very occasionally.

Not true at all. I love the taste of beer alone, AND in combination with certain foods. Not all beer of course, they make so many different kinds that it would be impossible to love them all.
I’m not going through the trouble and expense of cooking a steak if there isn’t going to be a beer accompanying it.
