I’m proud to say that Lemmy largely does not subscribe to the modern media “all violence is bad” mentality. Everyone with a functional brain knows that’s bullshit. Even the people who supposedly agree with that idea support the police’s use of violence sometimes. The monopoly of violence by the state is just a useful thing they push to keep people in line, and it’s mostly not a thing here.

Grizzlybur@piefed.ca 12 hours agoHard agree, but there are oftentimes apologists who are summoned from these posts or the people who make the argument that idolizing violence against anyone is abhorrent (nazis have families too!! etc etc), which to an extent I can agree with. However I have two history degrees which has given me insight on many topics, one being that non-violent resistance to true tyranny is a borderline myth. I subscribe to the paradox of tolerance .
