kungen@feddit.nu 3 days agoIt’s common for cheaper hotels, at least in the US. They don’t call it a deposit, but an extra hold they place on your card when checking in. Probably to deter people from doing dumb stuff like smoking in a smoke-free room.

actually it’s for people who are so fucking gross that they smear shit on the walls. that stuff needs specialized cleaning (expensive since it’s a biohazard)
