also, as part of that we’ve been conditioned to not dare talk to strangers or accept strangers talking to us.
In the past people would just say “my fellow those films you’re imbibing annoy me greatly, pray tell might you be so kind as to turn the volume down?” and they respond with “indubitably sir, posthaste. my greatest pardon for imposing upon you thusly”.
