Yeah, not intervening to protect and serve a citizen who was being killed - is criminal under the good Samaritan ethos. You’re obliged to help each other in a healthy CONSERVATIVE society. That’s social fabric conservatives are supposed to uphold and protect.
Cops should be helping people stay alive. That’s their job. Every cop whose more interested in cuffing someone as they’re bleeding out or worse beating/suffocating them disgusts me. It’s a total dereliction of their duty to the public, themselves, a sense of a moral code, and humanity.
A criminal whose alive, can live to be reformed. Citizens rights should outrank a cops drive to kill “criminals”. Because being a criminal often isn’t a life-long status. That person can, will and has been an member of society.
Cops are not the judge and jury. Conservatives should understand this. Understanding this helps restore a healthy society.
Meanwhile the cops in question usually get a transfer and a new job being a cop somewhere else. Those in the George Floyd case only got harsh sentences because of the publicity the case got.
Cops in America must have learned the transfer-system from the vatican. Immoral groups keeping death-perverts in their ranks are as bad as pedophile protectors. That shit doesn’t fly in other countries. Cops actually get fired or moderate criminal sentences elsewhere - as a consequence of that happening regularly they’re better at their jobs, better determining the public interest, and happier in their jobs (less hated).
Blind cop support IS NOT a conservative value. Police reforms that improve society and work to sustain life, society and community is the conservative position.

Herein lies the totality of your error…
Thao was in charge of crowd control. He arrived late to the scene, and his only task is to make sure that nothing funny happens from the crowd. His attention is not supposed to be on Floyd/Chauvin, because he would be failing in his police work if he was not focused on his task.
Even if you believe that Chauvin killed willingly in cold blood, there is no reason to believe that Thao did anything wrong since everyone who watched the video saw that the death was a subtle affair that did not involve some great tumult.
You are describing the general goal of police work, and certainly all tasks an officer engages in should be toward that end, but let’s not ignore the fact that crowd control is normally a part of executing that task, and there is a division of labor.

… But it was not actually justice. It was the result of massive political pressure to convict them and give as extreme sentences as possible. It would become a plume in the hat of Minnesota’s DFL politicians and bureaucrats, and the whole of the Minneapolis legal system understood the assignment that was being given to them by the national media.

Right so if there’s a protest, and then a police officer doing crowd controls… And just a couple of meters from him, someone suffocating someone. Making the crowd go “hey fucking stop it!” - “stop that murder!”
You’d want the crowd control cop to just hold back the crowd.
Let’s push it one more level - you’re the guy on the ground being suffocated within meters of the crowd control cop.
What you’re saying is “crowd control is more important than murder?”…

You’re a space case if you’d prefer to have a cop doing crowd control whilst you, or a citizen like you is being suffocated.
