OmegaMouse@pawb.social 5 hours agoI guess, but things like community gardens get people together, to communicate, share ideas and help each other out. Modern capitalism attempts to eradicate community and keep the individual alone, stuck inside, easily manageable and placated with tailored content online.
Building community seems like an important bit of defiance, even if it doesn’t ‘scale up to industrial levels’. It depends what your goal is here, and I don’t think the ‘goal’ of community gardens was every to feed an entire society.

Indeed. I can certainly see the benefits of this type of activity. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea for mental health and a sense of community.
But we had better community in the past and still felt the crushing weight of capitalism. Fighting back means fighting back. Community gardening is the left side of the meme.
