I think if a book is captivating enough, the environment doesn’t matter too much. I do most of my reading in public transport, usually standing and reading on my phone. You can hold your phone in a way without slouching or your hand getting tired. For books that are really demanding I may prefer reading at home, sitting on a chair or the bed. But I can’t read while lying down, it’s either super uncomfortable or I fall asleep. Physical books are nice when they’re small but I’ll still prefer the phone. No notes or anything like that, maybe some underlining that I’ll forget to get back to afterwards.
