I think the BMW still deserves a fair bit of the blame for being oblivious enough to not watch their mirrors, yield, or indicate. Sure, it could have been prevented by appropriate caution from the Porsche, but the first failure in the chain of events was the BMW’s poor situational awareness.

I think it’s good practice to signal you are giving the way, and for the one that takes over to wait for a clear indication. Yes people, I’m expecting a guy in a beemer to use his turn signals. We do it on track days. In my opinion the guy in the Porsche is at fault.

When you see an opening, you go for it - They say in F1. But they aren’t professional drivers at all, and from the hours upon hours of YouTube videos I’ve watched, British people are often the most dangerous ones on the Nürburgring. They come from far away, they are tired, and want to get the most of their experience, which I totally understand. I go there on a regular basis as I live nearby enough, just to drive around and have currywurst for lunch. I have yet to find a day where it would seem reasonable and safe enough to have a first run on the circuit. I should go on a weekday maybe … On the weekend, no effin.way.

Must be nice! I’ve never driven an active track, but I know the slower traffic is supposed to yield the line to faster traffic. Being in a fast car on a busy day has to be pretty frustrating and I can imagine that Porsche losing enough patience not to wait for full communication from every car he passes. Still, amazing that both drivers are well enough to walk away from it.

Agreed. People can be so locked in to what they are doing they haven’t necessarily seen you. I thought it was standard practice, particularly on the ring, to indicate that you have seen them and will be sticking right.
Porsche should not have been trying to overtake on a bend without seeing that signal so they knew the BMW was aware and giving way.
