Comment on Is the world more volatile now or is it just the abundance of news?
schmorpel@slrpnk.net 2 days agoNo, I mean that I believe that we might be not far from some really interruptive event. We are very dependent on our modern tech for record keeping. Not much is needed to interrupt that and send us into survival mode.
I sometimes like to believe (and I know that’s just speculation) that the dark ages had less upheaval than we now think, at least in the far corners of the former empire. No empire to hassle you, maybe you can just plant your fields in peace, right?

Yeah, I also think that we are a lot closer to collapse than most people like to imagine.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that I anticipate that we will collapse, rather that it’s a lot more possible or likely than people presume.
War, nuclear disaster, volcanic eruption, tsunami, meteor impact, viral outbreak.
Aside from nuclear war or widespread nuclear disaster, all of these things have happened previously in earth’s history.
