One time I had my cat out for a walk in his harness. He started going nuts on this random spiky looking plant by a fence. My wife and I are like, uh oh, is that cat safe?

I took a photo and uploaded it to a plant ID site (was, and still am, amazed that they are just casually online with such a tool).
