my pc at home, which doubles as a server, which runs plex, qbittorrent and other stuff, idles at less about 1.5 to 2 gigs.
The phone i am typing this on is currently sitting at just under 5gigs in use, jerboa is the only open app.

Does your pc have a mobile connection? Does your phone have all the services a phone does? No, so it’s not a fair comparison.
RAM being “in use” doesn’t mean that it requires it at that exact time. Unused RAM is wasted ram. Phones pre-load commonly used apps into ram without “opening” them. Your home server doesn’t.

my pc also has a full networking stack, just like the phone. And it has a bunch of services running. And i didn’t count cached memory for either, just what is in use at the moment.
If you had 64gigs of ram you’d want 60+ to be used as cache, not to be “in use”. And i force closed all apps except the one I’m using to write this comment.
Why is it so hard for you to believe stuff is bloated and can actually be significantly more efficient?
My phone doesn’t have all the services my pc has either…
