Bloodborne
For years I had it in my library, I would restart it every couple of months and give before the first boss. Then one day I decided “fuck it, I’ll do it”. After 2 miserable weeks I finally got to Vicar Amelia and got hooked like I had never been

Bloodborne was my first souls game. I sucked, as expected, and ran out of vials and bullets while fighting the blood starved beast, realized I’d have to farm before trying again, and just quit.
Picked up Dark Souls 3 on a sale and loved it, ended up going back to Bloodborne and loving it too. I do still think estus is a way better system than vials though.

Farming vials was not a fun mechanic, IMO. It’s also part of what made Demon’s Souls tedious at times, running out of healing and having to run back to your favorite farming route just to get more. It kills the flow of the game and is frustrating when you’re just trying to get past a hard boss.
I’ve played through most of the major Soulslikes out there, but have bounced off Bloodborne several times.

Yes exactly! That was very annoying, but on the flip side I ended up giting gud by not bothering using vials and just ramming through them foul beasts
