You may need to study up on your civics. I don’t think there is anything in the US that requires a 60% majority. In the Senate you do run into issues below 60% due to filibuster, but an actual vote to pass a bill doesn’t require 60%. And the house is pretty much always simple majority, a tie is actually a failure to pass a bill.

IIRC there’s also a larger majority required to pass legislation if the president vetoes it

  Yeah, that’s a good callout, you do need 60% to override a presidential veto.
  
  And that’s part of the reason why we’ve seen a number of 50% Senate votes pass this administration. Since republicans own all three branches they don’t have to worry about one of the other branches stopping it.
