    It was how Bush stole the 2000 elections from Al Gore and set the stage for the fascist takeover of the US. It’s been series of cascading failures since then. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_v._Gore

    It was an issue with older ballot styles. In Florida, during the 2000 election, they were using ballots where you would use a hole punch to choose who you voted for. Sometimes, the hole punch did not fully cut the paper and the little bit (the chad) would still be attached. It could then cover up the hole, or cover a different one, so when the machine would read it, it could register as a different vote.
