Welp, they don’t have it all figured out. In context I am impressed with how rapidly Suharto massively boosted and stabilised the country from the mess it was left to him in. It was brutal, but effective, and I can’t fault that. And then his successors have largely kept Suharto’s ethos of development, while reestablishing rights and freedoms to everyone Suharto made illegal.
