The end of ownership came a long time ago for PS players. Now it’s just the end of fancy boxes and discs that give an illusion of ownership.
Which is still bad, but let’s not mix up facts.

Many PS5 games can be fully installed from the disk with no internet connection needed.

Technically Sony has the ability to remotely disable any game so that PS5s don’t read the disc. Though that requires the console to be connected to the internet. As long as it’s not, you should be good. Not exactly ‘ownership’, but fairly close.
