NONE_dc@lemmy.world 1 week agoFine, it won’t be as much as 30% (that was an hyperbolic bad joke anyway), but there will be an effect in the market, as there isn’t any real good reason to have a console over a PC. If everything is Digital, you’re better off having a Steam library.

Yeah, but we’re already at a point of subscription multiplayer, significant DLC, and major patching already. There may be a market still for discs, but physical rental is mostly dead.
We’re already at a point where the physical space to sell media in stores has shrunk substantially over the past decade. We just might be at a point where it is small enough to no longer be worth supporting it.
