I’d argue it didn’t have an RTS component. It was an RTS that had a hack and slash component.

This is true, but the game’s advertisements really pushed the hack and slash component over the RTS one.
I per-ordered this game because I adored Double-Fine, and a heavy metal-themed Zelda-like starring Jack Black from the creators of Psychonauts sounded amazing. That was not what I was delivered.

Yeah the demo before release only showed the open world side, so it was quite a shock. Still decent if disjointed. Personally I could have done without the RTS part, or have it as a simpler mini game.

That’s fair. I only really made it until the RTS component started showing up and kind of drifted to another game.
