And also, having open hardware (i.e. having full specifications and schematics) is not really going to help much if you can’t get CPUs (you can’t manufacture your own CPUs: the machinery required costs way too much).
If they really ban owning CPUs, the only one to obtain one would be through black market…

The raspberry pi is not open hardware, as far as I know. For example the Broadcom SoC used are definitely not open hardware.
