Comment on WNBA facing major backlash after controversial Caitlin Clark decision
Rhoerii@thelemmy.club 2 days agoOh, I get you. I wasn’t clear on what you were tying to say. I agree with most of what you say, but I do think Clark is insanely talented. Her making shots from the logo while running are pretty epic to see live. But I do get annoyed that Clark is talked about so much.

She is…
It’s just she’s not the best in the league. She probably will be eventually, but she was treated like she was already as soon as she declared for the draft.
Like, the “W” in WNBA isn’t even relevant here, that kind of dynamic is going to breed jealous thru no fault of her own. Especially considering how much money is in sports and how likely it was that owners just needed any star to generate hype for the league.
If that was the reason, then all the suspect calls and drama makes more sense.
Look at the people who own pro sports teams and the shit they pull off

Exactly this! And I don’t think she’s the most fun to watch. I personally love Jade Melbourne, though her team is terrible this season. But that girl is diving and smashing all over. She lost a tooth while smacking onto the floor, picked it up and handed it to her coach, then went out to finish the game w a bloody smile the whole time. Paige Bueckers has been crazy good too. She landed really bad, could barely stand on ankle, went into locker room, taped up and just came back and started hitting basket after basket. But her ankle was trashed and she doc made her set next game out.
It’s been crazy. I like Clark, but she’s not my fav player. And her attitude is kinda shitty, but to an ealier point, she does get a lot of shit these days. So she’s def getting a chip on her shoulder.
