He didn’t “ally himself with Russia”

he stayed in Russia because they were the only country unwilling to extradite him. Russia only allowed this because of the public dunk on American “security”. he was allied with them from the moment he allowed them to use him to smear the American NSA.

he’s not working for Russia to destabilize America.

He was granted Russian citizenship September 2022. No country would allow a spy citizenship unless they “sold” their secrets.

He was forced to hide in Russia by America.

no, he hid in Russia because he refused to stand up and bring more attention to his cause to the American public. The dude would literally be out of jail by now and could continue the fight against a surveillance state but instead decided to ally with Americas oldest enemy for what?

Lots of other countries would have willingly taken him without America’s pressure. He had no options apart from decades or life in prison.

how can an American national, who previously worked as a spy, live in a country that is inhospitable to not just Americans, but former American spies, for over a decade without selling information to Russian intelligence operators? oh sorry, “leaking”.
