Nangijala@feddit.dk 6 days agoEmotional. As opposed to men who are perfectly rational at all times and totally don’t sit far beyond women in statistics of violent crimes.
I don’t mind acknowledging that men and women are different, but the “women are emotional and men are rational” narrative is driving me up a wall.

Both have emotions, but not the same, simply because testosteron isn’t the same as estrogen in it’s effects. Women are biological and hormonal different from men, but as said, nothing to do with scientific, analytic, mathematic, physical and tecnical or intelectual capabilities. The only limitations are traditional rols and educations in the society (movie about Lisa Meitner instead one of Oppenheimer?)

I’m aware. I just disagree with using the word “emotional” to describe how women are different from men, because that is not accurate.

Toxic masculinity teaches men that emotions are feminine, so to preserve our identity as men we are conditioned to suppress, hide, or find ways to describe our emotions as something other than what they are. That’s why men like Zerush think women are more emotional when the reality is that there is a difference in how men and women describe, express, and act on their emotions due to cultural conditioning. Hormones determine when and to what degree certain emotions are felt, but not what kind of emotions are felt or how they are expressed. That is determined by cultural conditioning and individual personality.
