Comment on Four in 10 struggle to access mobile signal on the move in the UK
9point6@lemmy.world 12 hours agoI expect bad signal on a train, but that’s not because I want it, it’s because I know from past experience that the service is sub-par.
I need the signal often because I’m trying to work on the train. But it’s also nice to be able to message the people I’m meeting on the other end if not working.
I’d say 70% of the journey between London and Manchester the signal you get is bad enough that it’s unusable.
I pay for phone service, I expect it to work without arbitrary conditions based on them being too cheap to put up enough masts to provide what they sell me.

1st world entitlement: I demand flawless internet when I am going faster than any animal on the planet, through valleys and tunnels cut through the surface of the earth.

Yes people expect flawless internet, when that is what provideers advertise. How many ads were there in the last 25 years of showing people on trains working through mobile internet? If you can’t hold up what you advertise, you’re just scamming people. It’s not entitlement to expect what you’ve been promised.

Oh well if they are advertising that then yeah they should provide it.

It’s not entitled to expect to get what I pay for
And I’m not even expecting flawless. I’m just expecting it to work enough to be able to do my job
The second half is such a non sequitur that you might as well be trolling

Trains often go in places it’s unreasonable to expect a signal to reach very well. Like underground or surrounded by high cliffs.

That’s not the route I’m talking about though is it?
