Look at what steam offers when you get games on its store for example, play time, achievements and even good prices, not to mention the services with s&box and the non commercial use of the team fortress 2 source code and there might be more services valve provides but those are the services I can think of now.

As for your valve question can you rephrase your question another way and provide details? From skimming your website I’m unsure of where the comparison should begin (perhaps I am unaware of all the things valve offers).

Scratch is a visual programming language that is intended to be easy to learn for younger people.
