The silver lining is that his MAGA challenger now stands a chance of losing, flipping this race from a sure Red seat, to a possible Blue seat. Same with Cassidy in Louisiana.
This happened a bunch of times in 2010, when a bunch of proto-MAGA Tea Party challengers won primaries against Republican incumbents, then lost in the general, flipping seats, and blunting the expected Tea Party bloodbath against Obama.
