Dojan@pawb.social 5 days agoThere are some spots where he’s using Norwegian grammar and verbiage and just translated it word for word into English.
You can do this with the Nordic languages and get decent results, but sometimes the grammar doesn’t quite align.

As a French who learnt English and then tried to learn Norwegian, I can say that the syntaxes are incredibly close. I can’t do that with German. To learn English when your mother tongue is Norwegian should mostly be a question of vocabulary.

Absolut. Jag är inte från Norge, men grannlandet Sverige. Om jag skriver en mening på svenska och sedan översätter varje individuellt ord till engelska, så kommer du att få en rätt acceptabel mening på engelska.
Absolutely. I am not from Norway, but the neighbouring country Sweden. If I write a sentence in Swedish and then translate each individual word to English, then will you get a pretty acceptable sentence in English.
Sometimes certain word positions are shifted, but that’s about it.
